I've always been passionate about developing people and spent 23 years working at Goldman Sachs in Global Banking & Markets doing just that. Starting as a graduate Analyst and finishing as a Managing Director, I managed, coached and mentored many people along the way.
I now coach and mentor finance professionals at all stages of their careers, using my experience to help people navigate the many challenges that the industry brings. I have most likely had to solve the career problems you're facing and, above all, I understand.
I'm the first to admit that I made plenty of mistakes in my career. But every mistake was a valuable learning point that has helped me to help others.
The people I work with come from all over the world and from different areas within the industry; from finance, operations, compliance and engineering, to sales and trading.
I graduated with a degree in Physics and Music from Imperial College and the Royal College of Music, and then completed a doctorate in Experimental Astrophysics at Oxford University.
My career at Goldman Sachs saw me work in the Foreign Exchange, Structured Credit and Commodities businesses, as well as having global FICC leadership roles. I experienced many challenges during my time: The Dot Com Bubble, The Global Financial Crisis, The European Debt Crisis, COVID, and many more market and geopolitical events. My experience includes everything that comes with being a Managing Director with responsibility for a large, complex global organisation.
You can expect confidentiality and honesty from all of our conversations. Sessions are efficient and to the point.
I offer a free, no-obligation call to kick-off so you can get an idea of whether I'm the right person to help you. From then on, sessions can be as often as you would like and payment is on a per-session basis.
A succinct email of things to consider follows each session. You can then email me at any time for near real-time thoughts on situations outside of sessions. Sessions are run on Zoom, or on Monday evenings in London at a quiet location that we can choose.
The majority of my work comes via word-of-mouth, but if you're reading this and think I may be able to help, then I'd love to chat.
Please feel free to email me at james@jamesmarchesecoaching.com or send me a message using the form below. Give me a quick summary of the problem and what your availability is, and I can suggest times for a kick-off call.
I look forward to hearing from you, and hopefully working together in the future.
Best wishes,
James
